The proverbial "Ford Taurus" of light bulbs
| Comments |
As mentioned, I would compare this bulb to the "Taurus" of light bulbs. You could pay more, but would see little more performance and less value then if you didn't. While these bulbs are not the cheapest on the market, they are the lower priced bulb in the "good bulb" market. They provide excellent life, color and performance and are not dependent on ballast type--they work on electronic or magnetic equally as well and almost the same in my experience. I used these on an ARO electronic setup and a dual CA magnetic ballast for years and was happy. The bulb burns-in blue but after a month changes and shows more of the red spectrum than expected from a 14k bulb. Consideration should be given for actinic supplementation if desired color show is needed from coral inhabitants in my experience.

Long life; great reliability; price is within reason given competitor price for the same performance.

Would like to see more blue overtones but this is a personal preference.

Great life

I have this over a 220 and it makes all the colors just pop out.
I've noticed my anemones have become much more colorful since switching to this bulb from a 10k.

Great Bulb!!
| General |
I bought a new mh / pc set up for my 150 reef tank and the set came with these bulbs are part of the package. I loved them I had other types before but for me these were the clearest and coolest of the 14000k Ive had. I would highly recommend these bulbs. |

Great looking bulb but with all MH bulbs, they are very expensive, but since you have to spend the money anyway, not a bad bulb! |

Not as blue as you would ecpect for a 14K bulbs bu
| General |
I switched from a 10K bulb to 14K expecting it be be a little more blue. It was a crisp white/blue but far more whate than blue. The corals loved it. I have great color and growth. Like I said I was just looking for a bulb that had a little more blue in it. I ran this for 12 months on a Icecap E Ballast and was please in the end with the color and longevity of the bulb. |
