Valuable clean-up crew member for your sand bed
| Comments |
Tiger Tail cukes are of the Holothuria species, which I argue is the only species of sea cucumber that should go into a reef tank. This species is great at stirring up the sand and consuming some detritus, while not being a major risk of poisoning your tank if it dies. There is no such thing as a 100% safe sea cucumber, but the Tiger Tail is about as good as it gets!

Not the most attractive.
Small chance of poisoning your tank if it is extremely stressed or dies.

Watch out for Pumps
| General |
I had one of these little guys. I love to watch it eat and then return the sand all cleaned out. The only problem with these guys(well the one I had) are he kept crawling up to my sieo pump. At one point he got stuck in the pump so I had to turn the pump off(all the while panicking he was going to poison my tank) and gently wiggle him out. I covered the sieo with a plastic mesh but a cpl of weeks later he found a way back to the pump and this time he wasn't so lucky. I will say even tho he didn't make it he didnt poison my tank. If you buy one make sure all your pumps are securely covered. |
