Great crab
| Comments |
At first I was a little hesitant to get 1. But then I read they ate Brown Wafer Algae which I had. So I took a chance and got 2. I never realized what cool colors they can have. And they are quite active and actually ate the Brown Wafer Algae as reported. Not only that they eat other algae as well. After the first 2 I bought 1 more so now I have 3 total. They aren't always out in the open but I see them from time to time.

Ate the Brown Wafer Algae as reported. They are very active and always picking at something. So far they have had great attitudes and have been very peaceful.

The only thing I wish was different is, if they came out and were visable a little more often.

active and interesting crab
| Comments |
This is an inexpensive and active crab, but I don't necessarily trust that they're completely reef safe. They can get big (4-5" in some cases), so keep that in mind. I have heard that these crabs will eat brown leaf algae (Lobophora), which can be otherwise challenging to get rid of, so that would be one good reason to get this crab.

An active crab that may help with nuisance algaes (especailly lobophora), they're relatively inexpensive and easy to keep (no real challenging requirements).

They can get somewhat large, and I don't find them fully trustworthy. While I've had a number of them over the years and have never personally experienced this issue, I've read that they may take to catching fish or other inverts when the get to adult size.

Not Worth It

Not difficult to car for but was not a good inhabitant.

Cleaned up the mess after feeding. Pretty cool looking crab.

I bought this thinking it was going to help with algae control. The only time I saw the crab was when I was feeding the fish and it would steal the food. Did not really eat algae.

Crabby attitude
| General |
When I first bought the crab, I had buyers remorse. I wanted him out of the tank. But, he was a very fast and seemingly intelligent crab. I was not able to catch him, so we got used to it. The crab never seemed to rest, always picking at the rocks a great scavenger, excellent worker. After 3 months, out of nowhere, he died. I am considering another one. |
