Performance vs. Expectations This replaces my Top Fin heater that decided to crap out after about a year and start to overheat the tank. After several months the hydor seems to be doing much better than the Top Fin with respect to consistent water temps. The tank is at a solid 80 degrees during the heating months (since the tank will absorb ambient heat from the room) when set at about 78. The Top Fin had issues during the heating month with overheating the tank, sometimes to almost 90! Value for money Grabbed it from my local LFS for a reasonable price of about 25 bucks with my discount which was great. Customer Support No need to call. Liked about it Shatter-proof housing. Price-performance. Stable Temperatures. Didn't like Can't say anything about it, my LFS uses Hydor in all of their tanks without issue. Other users say that they are junk, while others say they are great. I guess it is a luck of the dice since the thing would eventually wear out after constant on-off situations. I have had the 100w 150w 250w and 400w. I am currently using the 400w in my salt mix tank. I do not use it for lone periods of time. Just turn it on a day before a WC to get the ASW up to temp. This is why it has lasted longer than others. Liked about it Shatterproof fully submersible fairly accurate thermostat.
