Probably the best heater you can buy without going to titanium featured

Installation and Operation It was very easy to install, just place in tank, allow the glass to get the same temp as water and plug it in. The added length of the heater may make it difficult to place in some sumps with multiple compartments.

Performance vs. Expectations It performed very well as expected. The box was somewhat confusing as it showed the old Jager heater that was not fully submersible. It had a large UL sticker declaring it as submersible as well as the markings on the heater itself. I had heard people make claims this heater was not submersible and this may be the source of this confusion.

Value for money This heater was very fairly priced for it's attributes. Other heaters in this wattage range are similarly priced and some of them are not as well made. This is probably the best heater you can buy without going to titanium, a very good value.

Customer Support I have not had to return any of the products I have purchased previously from this company.

Liked about it The heater performed very well. It has a clear setting knob on it to set the temperature. The extra length should allow for more even heating. The wiring is a single large coil throughout the tube unlike other brands which use smaller coils seperated by ceramics. I would assume this should allow for more even heating as well and less hot spots. The cord was long (roughly six feet), well insulated, and has more rigid plastic around the plug to deter fraying from bending. It is fully submersible which is a big bonus. The suction cup attachment system was also well designed. There are two suction cups attached to a plastic piece that grasps the heater. The suction cups were an inch and a half across, about 50% larger than some others I own. This should provide additions suction. It held the temperature very consistently without fluctuation.

Didn't like The length (17.5 inches) allows for more surface area but may make it difficult to get into some segmented sumps. It was also slightly thinner than other models. It still appeared solid but made me question if it would take the abuse other glass heaters would. The suction cup system is better than other suction cups but I still believe a better system like a magnet would perform better. The temperature was remained stable but it kept the water about 2 degrees F above what the setting was according to the mercury thermometer in the system. However the system was about 85 gallons, under what the heater was rated for but I would like for it to have been a hair more accurate. This 2 degree discretion was stable at various setting so it was easy to adjust for.

Ironman Heater

General This heater is yet another quality product from Eheim. I have had my 250w for almost 5 years, and the previous owner had it for about a year before that. This heater lasts and lasts and lasts. I have had other heaters die inside 2 years, and this one is still going after 5-6. While it is a rather long heater, the increased surface area is beneficial for heating. Jager heaters are at the top of my list for any heater needs I have. If you want to spend your money on a heater that will give you the very best quality for the money you spend, then this is it.

Liked about it High quality. Efficient heater. Long lasting

Didn't like Need for calibration

Ok heater

General Keeps the temperature very stable. Since they are not submersible it is hard to incorporate the larger models into a sump. It was a great heater until it cracked on me.

Liked about it It had a great temperature controller and it kept my tank very stable over the winter.

Didn't like Mine developed a bubble in the glass which shattered after a while. Also I don't like that they aren't submersible.

My Favorite Heater!!

General I use 4 of these heaters on my main system and they work flawlessly. I have used more heaters than I care to mention, and these are the only ones I can truly say I trust and like! I think these are the best heaters on the market. I only used the built in thermostats for a couple weeks, but they kept the temp constant. Great Heater!

Liked about it Accurate, Great Build Quality, Great Reputation!

Didn't like Nothing!

Reliable heater

General The jaegers last forever and are completely submersible. I have yet to have one freeze in an on position. I use all of mine with controllers now, but before that I had piece of mind using these heaters that I did not have using other cheaper brands. I had a cheaper heater cook my nano and after that I resolved to only use jaegers.

My only issue is they are made out of glass so they are susceptible to breakage.

Liked about it Reliable
submersible

Didn't like Made out of glass
