Two products pictured, both good, but not for same use

The picture with this review shows two different hatcheries, I own both, and would suggest to anyone wanting to hatch brine shrimp to own both as well. The small black box with the clear container on top is for growing small, newly hatched brine shrimp. The hatchery using the two liter bottle on top, while not designed to grow them to adulthood, is designed for growing them larger.
If you ever want to keep seahorses then owning these is a must.
Each product is very simple to use and comes with eggs and salt mix. Keep in mind you do not have to use this mix, once it runs out you can create your own. There are plenty of different posts on TRT that explain how to do this. That's another great thing, is for just a few dollars this same company sells a vial of several thousand eggs so you can just keep hatching your own live food day after day.
The black box version comes with everything you need, but the other requires you to have a small air pump and to provide your own two liter bottle. I suggest using one that has had carbonated water in it rather than soda just because it's easier to clean.

| Liked about it |
1. Comes with eggs and mix
2. Easy to use and provides quick results
3. Much more affordable to grow your own than buy them at the local fish store. This allows you to do that
4. The black box version can be used for other things as well. I use it to acclimate inverts or small fish that may jump. As the box has a lid with a small hole, I can cover it but still get the water into the container, and as the sides and top are black the light is cut out so the fish won't stress. Even if I never hatch another shrimp in it this was worth buying just for this use alone.

1. You must provide your own air pump and bottle
2. The version that uses the two liter bottle is actually pretty expensive for what you get, usually priced at $16. But, it is well constructed and lasts forever

brine shrimp hatchery
| General |
Works very good! babies start hatching w/in a day. I found that instead of putting a fresh thing of water and salt for every batch is a waste of time. Putting more eggs in the hatchery every few days helps ensure more baby brine and more for your fish. My baby bettas loved them:) |
