In terms of nutrition I have no problem with this product. My fish thrive on it and have bright colors. I have one issue with it that I don't like.
When the product is new, the flakes are large, too large, and must be broken up. This can make it difficult to dish out the proper amount of food. As the can gets used the flakes break up. By the time I get about half way through the jar the flakes are tiny which causes the same problem as the flakes being too large, it's difficult to determine the proper quantity.
Some foods are high in phosphates, so much so that their addition to your tank will cause an increase in the level of phosphates in your water to a point as to alter your water chemistry. Depending on your livestock load this can quickly become an issue. Just about all the fish I own eat this as their primary food so it gets placed into my tank daily. I have noticed only a minimal effect on water quality as compared with other products I have used. All foods add some phosphates, but Formula 2 seems to add fewer.
This product is very affordable and does provide the nutrition your fish need so because of that I do recommend it.

1. Very affordable
2. Nutritious, providing good health and color to livestock
3. My shrimp and hermits will also eat it excitedly
4. Jar is easy to open and get the product out of

1. Flakes should be pre-sized like we find with the Tetra brand products
2. Should have zero phosphates but does seem to be a reasonable amount.

great veggie flake food
| Comments |
I've been using this flake for my herbivores for a number of years. It may have a bit of a high phosphate content, but I've been able to use it without any nuisance algae as a result. I'd recommend it in combination of other foods to feed the fish.

Great vegetable content, most of my surgeonfish go after this product immediately. I've used it for years without any concern, though I don't use it exclusively (I like to mix it in with a lot of other foods).

It may lead to elevated nutrient content in the tank if used in large volumes, so make certain you pay attention to that (though this comment is more against all foods than this one specifically).
