The Fluval 305 Is A Workhorse Of A Filter featured

Installation and Operation The Fluval 305 is easy to install, and comes with a well written instruction manual and DVD setup guide

Easy To Install &

Performance vs. Expectations Yet, the 305 performs very well keeping the water clean.

Value for money Actually the 305 usually sells for between $175 and $200. However, I got mine on sale for $119.00
including shipping, so it was a real bargain.

Customer Support Have not had to deal with customer support.

Liked about it I like the AquaStop feature which makes detaching the 305 from its hoses a breeze. A quick trip to the sink]
to rinse out the media and all you need to do is reattach the Aquastop open the AquaStop valve and the 305 primes
itself.

Didn't like Some of the parts are cheaply made, including the Aquastop lever and impeller cover. However, as long as you are careful with them they should be fine for a few years. Any fishkeeper whose worth their salt knows that aquarium filters are workhorses that like automobiles need to be maintained properly. That means storing parts that wear out over time, such as impeller shafts, impeller motors, o-ring seals and the Aqua Stop valves themselves, which are prone to leak over time.

At last, the filter I always wanted! featured

Installation and Operation This filter comes with a thick instruction book and a DVD! That made me think it would be difficult to install, but it was simple. They just included those things to provide great service to their customers. I chose to skip the book and just use the DVD, which I watched on my laptop. After watching it once, I was able to install the filter without having to re-watch it or look at the book. There's just nothing hard about it at all. The only recommendation I have is when it says you should rinse off things first, actually DO. Many people are tempted to skip this step, but it is beneficial and shortens the break in period of the filter.

Performance vs. Expectations After years of using hang-on filters and wishing I could afford a canister, I finally got one. Yes, they are way more expensive, $180 vs. $35 is a big difference. However, there is just no comparing the quality of filtration achieved. There are multiple levels of filter media, greater flow rate, and it doesn't take up all the room in your tank, it sits in the stand, and any noise is hidden by the door on your stand. If you want cleaner water this is the way to get it. The product is solid and well built.

Value for money I always thought they were too expensive and must be over-priced until I got one. Now I realize you do get what you pay for. I wasted so much money on different hang-on filters, if I had just spent the money on this first, I would have paid less in the long run because I would not have gotten any other kinds.

Customer Support I have not dealt with customer support, but I can't imagine why I would need to. They provided a DVD with the product and a well laid out instruction book to answer all my questions.

Liked about it 1. Well built, solid product, not cheap at all.
2. Actually filters the water really well. My water was clearer and smelled better almost right away.
3. Does not take up room in your tank and does not make extra noise because it is hidden.

Didn't like 1. Comes with an little pump on top to prime the filter. The idea is you just lift it up once and then push it down and that creates a siphon and fills the filter without any work on your part. It didn't quite work out that way for me. I had to keep pumping and the siphon action never really became more than a trickle. This was annoying, easy to overcome and eventually it all worked out fine, just something that MAY happen to you.

Awesome!

Installation and Operation It comes with a huge instrustion book and a DVD and it is all very easy to set up and has diagrams and suggestions for media combonations. It has never broken down and I have had it on the same tank for over 3 years now. The filter in all is very user friendly and it is also very quiet. It has a master shut off lever on the canister and it has never broken in fact non of its parts have broken. In all it is a great buy

Performance vs. Expectations It performs just as well if not better than I expected and The return hose adds some nice water flow to my tank. It has never given me any problems so I say it performs very well

Value for money I paid a good sum of money for this but I feel that it has been worth my while. I never have any issues with this filter.

Customer Support n/a

Great for Beginners

Installation and Operation Installation was easy. Everything just clicks together. Pretty straight forward. The hose connections, valves, suction cups all come in a nice neat package. Also come with a DVD that explains everything really well. I didn't even have to look at the instruction book.

Performance vs. Expectations I didn't know what to expect. The water is very clear. After dumping 40lbs of sand into a tank full of water it only took about 4 hours to completly clear the water of debris.

Value for money This is the first filter I have used and I think it's a great value for the money.

Customer Support Have not spoke with CS. Don't think I'll ever need to.

Liked about it Quick connect valve. Let's you disconnect the hoses from the canister without spilling water all over.
Media Trays. Very easy to clean.
The DVD Video

Didn't like Nothing to dislike.

Worth it!

Installation and Operation The filter itself has 3 stages. first stage is more along the lines of bio-balls but called bio cylinders. The second stage is a carbon pouch and some more bio cylinders. The third is 2 carbon pouches. Extremely easy to install. It requires you to pump it a bit to create the siphon and you are off from there. Super easy to maintain I clean mine 1 time every two months. Depending on if i had to treat the tank for ich. The insturctions manual is the way to go.

Performance vs. Expectations The product was exactly up to my expectations: clean water, a lot of flow, perfect for a hexagon tank.

Liked about it This product gives a lot of flow, which is perfect for a hexagon tank. Extremely clear water. NO SOUND! Actually getting another one for my bigger tank.

Didn't like There is nothing I don't like about this filter it is perfect.
