Other then that regular maintence and your good to go. Would not recommend these for a larger saltwater aquarium but for a smaller quarantine or freshwater tank your good to go. Liked about it Easy to use, inexpensive, filter media and carbon all in one. Didn't like Be careful to check them and change them regularly. I also use them in my salt water quarantine tank. Simply open the bag of pre-measured carbon, pour it into the the filter bag, rinse under cool water and place into aquarium. It does not get any easier than these filters.
