Good multi-media filtration at an affordable cost

I've used Tetra filters for years and along with that comes the use of these bio-bags. They are simply a bag of floss with activated charcoal inside. The charcoal puts them a step ahead of many other filter cartridges. The charcoal absorbs chemicals out of the water, making it clearer, cleaner, odor-free. The cartridges will need to be changed even if they aren't dirty because the charcoal looses effectiveness after 2-3 months.
The floss is good quality and traps particulate matter nicely. When I would change cartridges I would notice a change in the tank in a very short period of time. I've used these on fresh water and marine tanks so I know they will work with either.
One quick money saving note: You can buy these unassembled for less money. All you have to do is reuse the frame and it only takes a moment to put together a new one. The cost savings is significant. There is a new version of this cartridge for the newer filters that only comes assembled.

1. Drips quite a bid when you pull it out of the filter. I would keep a small container to quickly drop it in. Minor thing, but worth a mention as it might save you some clean up down the road.

Good and Inexpensive
| General |
These work great, just remember to wash them out first or you will leak carbon dust into the tank. Other then that regular maintence and your good to go. Would not recommend these for a larger saltwater aquarium but for a smaller quarantine or freshwater tank your good to go. |

Simple and effective
| General |
I have been using these filters for years in my fresh water aquarium. I also use them in my salt water quarantine tank.
Simply open the bag of pre-measured carbon, pour it into the the filter bag, rinse under cool water and place into aquarium.
It does not get any easier than these filters. |
