Used this product on a new tank set up that had some phosphate issues as all new tanks do. had a reading around .50 added this product and within a few days no detectable reading. now that i think about it this may be a good product to use on new tank set ups for the first few months to help control phosphates and to keep algale blooms under control until the tank is well cycled. That's just my opinion
