I use one of these filter pads on a Hagen 402 when I blow off the rocks and during the water change. It traps many larger particles and rinses out light brown detritus when it is removed. One pad lasts months of this occasional use. I consider it's use to be very critical to my tank's health. |

When the filter pads are this cheap it is easy to replace them. They rinse out well but like all filter pads will begin to break down eventually.

It would be nice if there was a finer pad for more polishing, but this does what it was made to do.
