I have used these in both freshwater and marine tanks featured

Comments My primary use of these has been in freshwater since in a reef tank you let the rock and skimmer do the filtration. I started using them because I got tired of paying for pre-made filters. I just cut these to size and got twice as many filters for the same amount of money and they actually filter particulates better.

In my reef tank I still use these from time to time for different reasons. In my BioCube I can just toss one in the first chamber for some quick removal after algae scrapping or sand bed agitation. I also have a Remora skimmer, which can be a little loud. I just place a cut up piece of this inside the body on the left side of it and instant quiet!

The only think I don't like about them is that due to their density, when they are ready to be replaced you really know it because the water flow slows way down. They also get ready to be changed quickly depending on the tank. Still, if I am in need of fast and affordable filtration I use this, and will always keep some on hand for several different purposes.

Liked about it 1. Filters particulates very well.
2. Can be cut to size and shape for multiple uses.
3. Great for a BioCube!

Didn't like 1. Get used up quickly.
2. When used up slows water flow dramatically.

Great Product

Comments This is a awesome product and I have used them since my early days of reef keeping. I use a small piece in place or in addition to carbon. They remove medications, contaminants, heavy metals, copper, and other pollutants. I suggest everyone uses them or keep some around for emergencies.

Liked about it Change color letting you know what they are removing.
Remove all kinds of pollutants.
Keeps water crystal clear.
Can easily be put anywere where water can flow around or through.

Didn't like Nothing negative.

Great product.

Comments This is something that I always keep on hand. Its to expensive to run constantly, but I run it every other week in my filter tray. Or if I think something funny might be going on I will put one in. It changes several colors to detect different items. Which is really useful if you are trying to diagnose some problem you are having, but can't figure it out. It will turn blue with copper, red with iron, gren with ammonia, bron with normal organics, and black under heavy organics. I am not aware of anything else on the market that will do that.It also claims not to release anything back into the water, which is always a plus.

Liked about it It changes color in the prescence of different items. It can be easily cut to any size.

Didn't like The only downside is the price is a bit high.

Good for beginers

Comments A bit expensive, but you can use it as a mechanical filter in addition to being a chemical filter and biological filter.

Liked about it It turns colors so you can see it working!

Didn't like The cost!

Poly filter does what it says

General Fair price for what it does.

Liked about it Quickly reduced the levels of phosphates in my system. No pollutants or anything negative appeared to be released into my tank. A safe way to lower phosphates.

Didn't like It didn't last for very long, then again my tank's phosphates were really high. It reduced phosphates for 4 days then was used up.
