This product is excellent to attach at the bottom of a display return to catch unwanted UFOs (unidentified floating objects) from entering your sump water column. This bag is excellent but if used in this manner, I would suggest cleaning/exchanging no less than weekly to keep unwanted nutrients from breaking down and adding to your overall water content. I simply place this bag in a short rinse cycle in the washer sans soap. The stitching around the drawstrings will breakdown eventually and you can probably expect a life span of about 1 year.

Requires frequent cleaning however, this should already be part of your weekly maintnence and not much more of a hinder.
