These look and move like real plants, but which one? featured

Comments I am not sure which species of crispus this plant is supposed to be. The two commonly known as curly crispus, Rumex or Potamogeton crispus don't look like this. To me, it looks more like an Amazon Spear or something close. But I am sure there's a plant expert out there who knows for sure. Be that as it may, this is still a nice product and looks natural in your tank.

From the start of my getting into the fishkeeping hobby I never wanted to keep a tank with mermaids or treasure chests as the decorations. For all undomesticated animals I've kept I have always sought to make their habitats as close as possible to the one they inhabit in nature. These plant replicas are not your typical plastic plants but are realistic and even move in the current.

They have a heavy base which keeps them in place and upright in your tank.

I found that they did not collect detritus as I expected they might but did find that I needed to remove them from the tank every few months for a quick cleaning of algae. This was not difficult and as it was only 2 or a most 3 times a year, I didn't mind.

I have since moved on to live planted aquaria and no longer use this product but under certain circumstances I would. I think these are a good alternative to live plants, which are, of course difficult and time consuming to keep, almost a second hobby in themselves. This is also a great way to make your tank look natural.

Having plants in your tank, even a variety of fake ones like these, helps to reduce stress on your fish, promote breeding behaviors in some species, and provides a hiding place for smaller fish to avoid bullies.

Liked about it 1. Looks realistic
2. Moves in the current
3. Helps promote natural behavior in fish and reduces stress
4. Affordable
5. Good alternative to live plants

Didn't like 1. Needed to be removed a few times a year for a cleaning. Depending on your tank this may not be necessary or may be required a little more often but in general they seem resistant to getting dirty.
