All I will every use! featured

Installation and Operation This is reactor media there really in no installation. Just add to your reactor ad needed.

Performance vs. Expectations I really like this media. After going through another brands fine and coarse I am sticking with Gen-X
As with most coarse medias you can run the effluent PH much lower than fine media without a reactor meld down. This is a great advantage especially if your reactor is a little undersized for your system. I am able to consistently run my PH as low as 6.2 without any issues at all. The coarse media also allows for greater effluent recirculation resulting in higher contact time and more efficiency.

There is a reason Gen-X only makes coarse. It the best choice in a Calcium Reactor.

Value for money This media is priced in line with most other commonly used medias. There are a few other brands out there that charge 2x the normal amount. Not sure why but for the money I will stick with Gen-X

Customer Support Never needed any customer support for this product or any other PCI products.

Liked about it Lower phosphates than other manufactures.
Can be run with extremely low effluent PH.
Coarse media is all around a better choice.

Didn't like Nothing as of this point. Been using Gen_x for about 2 years and could not be happier.

decent media, but a bit more expensive than others

Installation and Operation This stuff is very easy to set up and use. I like to give it a rinse, then all it takes is to dump in in the reactor chamber of the calcium reactor. There's nothing more to it.

Performance vs. Expectations This reactor media has done well for me. It doses a good balance of calcium and alkalinity, so there's really no further need to maintain your chemistry once you're dialed in. It has met my expectations.

Liked about it This has a good balance of calcium and alkalinity in my experience, and it's worked well. I've since switched to another brand, but that's simply due to cost. This media works well and doesnt require much (if any) rinsing. If you can find it cheap, you won't be disappointed with this product.

Didn't like Simply the cost. It sometimes hard to find, and when I have found it it's either been more expensive or the retailer selling it charges a lot for shipping. Compared to the more mainstream products, this one is harder to obtain.

Good media

General After using both this media (I am running it currently) and the larger grain size ARM media. I prefer the ARM for two reasons. My calcium levels have remained more stable with the ARM media, and I found out the hard way that this media needs to me soaked in RO water for 24-36 hours before use as it leached alot of PO4 into my tank and caused an algae bloom.

Liked about it Grain size

Didn't like Leaches PO4

Good basic media

General recommend that you soak this media for 24 hours in RO water and then drain, it will significantly reduce the phos levels that the media will put in your tank.

Liked about it Easy to use

Didn't like can add to your phosphate levels if not prepared correctly
