The below review is true of the several different Whisper pumps I have owned and currently own. They come in various sizes, indicated by the number assigned to the name, which can be used for various purposes from surface agitation, to brine shrimp hatcheries to skimmers.
When I first got into the fish keeping hobby I tried to do things as cheap as I could. I soon learned cheap just means you have to buy it again! I still remember the noisy old pumps I used to own, how annoying they were. Then I realized that these Whisper pumps by Tetra were only a few dollars more so I got one. I can't tell you how happy I was with the purchase. They are designed so the body of the pump is off the ground so vibration on surfaces is much less, each leg has a soft rubber pad on the bottom which makes it even less prone to vibration.
It doesn't matter how quiet a pump is if it doesn't work, and these really do work. I found them powerful enough to push air up through my rock, since in my freshwater tanks I used a bubble rod and buried it deep so that large slow bubbles were created, a nice effect handled easily by this air pump.

Slightly more than some pumps but they are quiet, really living up to their name, "Whisper". They come in different powers for larger or smaller tanks as needed. They also last and last. I have never had one go out on me, I really don't know what the effective life of this product is, I've used them for years.

Duel air outlet pump
| General |
This is a much more powerful pump than it's younger brother the 10 . This air pump has nice rubber feet and it's very quiet. It has two air outlets on it so you can divide up what you want on each side. It has a lot of pressure on each side and if one isn't enough you can always join both outlets with a "T" fitting and you will have more than enough air . I like the versatility of this pump. I've used it for water circulation and additional air pressure for my protein skimmer all at the same time. The long cord help . I have it hidden under the cabinet and you don't even hear it . |

i liked the two year warranty but not on rubber parts? whats up with that? that's the reason why i have gone through three of these pumps in the last two years. the little rubber "plundgers" that produce the air wear out really quick.

definitely quiet

This air pump is super quiet without a doubt. I can be standing next to it and not even notice it's running. Only problem I've noticed is that after using for about a year it has begun to loose a little bit of power from the filter becoming clogged. i clean the filter pad every 2-3 months but it is getting progessively worse, but still puts out a decent amount of air. but for the money it's cheap enough to replace after a couple of years. |
