for reaching ph it acheives its goal as for maintaining it's another story. good price but would label it as an alkalinity dose rather than a ph buffer. and i never saw a ph above 8.4 from overdosing.

i love the price for quantity ratio. also the rate at which it disolves is excellent if i don't see it going into my display tank thats a thumbs up from me. it also clearly states how much it raises your alk per dose. It barely will mess with other levels.

it says your ph won't rise above 8.4 and it can be misleading because you can send your alkalinty to unreasonable levels from continuous dosing.

I didn't get my moneys worth

It raises PH to 8.3 and holds for a week or two in my tank. But you CAN overdose to 8.5-8.8 unlike the label states, although the PH will stabilize at 8.3 after a day or two, it still can get very high right after dosing, so be careful.
"It will not raise pH above 8.3 even if inadvertently overdosed" (the label says)

I use it in my tank every 1 to 2 weeks, its holds PH at 8.3 and keeps my Alk in check as well.
It works well for what I use it for.

the label says you can get much more out of the bottle, I get about 2/3 to 1/2 of the amount advertised.
"Treats up to 2,000 gallons" (the label says)
more like 1,000 gallons for me, and I'm raising my PH up from 8.2 to 8.3 I should be getting more out of it!
also it dose not dissolve 100% more like 80% - 90% in RO/DI water or Aquarium Water

good product for alkalinty supplementation

This product is sold as a pH buffer, which it does, but you have to pay attention to your alkalinity levels when using Marine Buffer. Folks often overdose alkalinity due to continued use of this product. So while this is a good quality buffer from Seachem, I think it does not properly advertise overall affects to system water quality with extended use.

A great product for maintaining alkalinity.

Product performs just as advertised. It quickly raised alkalinty to the correct levels in my tank. The directions on adding product are very clear and easy to understand.

1. Very easy to use. Just dissolve into top of water and add to the tank.
2. Cost effective solution for maintaining alkalinty.

Great buffer, helps build Alk...

I've used Seachem's Marine Buffer to help stabilize my alk during swings caused by my cal reactor not staying consistent. My alk bounces right back and I can easily maintain it until I get everything back into spec. |
